"Painting cityscapes is a daunting task that I managed to avoid for a good part of my career, until I worked on Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. Nothing better for artistic growth than when your paycheck depends on it, I always say!
In this workshop we will cover the process I've developed for painting cityscapes that won't melt your brain. I'm not a naturally gifted artist and really cling to systems and processes to help me get through every painting I've ever done, and I want to share that process with you in an easy to digest 4 week cityscape painting workshop."
We'll cover: • Setting up perspective grids • Setting up your composition/drawing • Paint building flats and photoshop spacing and warping tricks • Lighting and color for cityscapes • Atmospheric perspective • Reflections
Week 1: Mis en Place. This week is all about prep work: reference, perspective, painting building flats, and creating our drawings. Week 2: Laying out our buildings Week 3: Tying the whole piece together with color and Light Week 4: Finishing details, and graphics.
